CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING AT CAM-BRIDGE-TERRACE.

The 29th annual meeting of the Cam-bridge-terrace Congregational Church was held in the new church last night. The Rev A. E. Hunt presided over a large attendance. Before the ordinary business of the meeting commenced, the anniversary tea was held in the large schoolroom attached to the church, About two hundred persons were comfortably accommodated for tea, and the hall, with its white walls and prettily-decorated tables, looked most effective. In calling on the secretary to read the annual report, the Rev. A. E. Hunt stated that since last Saturday, when the church had been officially opened, he' had received telegrams and letters of congratulation regarding their line new church from the secretary of the Congregational Union of New Zealand, the secretary, of the Christchnrch District Union, and the executive committee of the General Union.

Addressing the meeting in connection with the Sunday School, Mr. Hunt said that since there had been a prospect of the new school room attached to the church being brought into use there had been a number of school teachers who had offered to take classes, and he thought the number of scholars would increase. He thanked the staff and officers of the Sunday School, the officers of the church, the Building Committee, and the Ladies' Guild for their splendid work throughout a very busy year Mr. A. Lindsay, who worked in the Sunday School thirty-five year ago as a teacher, dealt reminiscently with the early days of the school. Other speakers were the Revs. A. M. Aspland (former pastor of the church), G. Knowles-Sm'ith (Central Mission), W A. Evans, and J. ReedGlasson.

During the evening the choir under the baton of Mr. A. M. Lewis rendered two antheniSj including the "Gloria."
