V ■■■■ ■ ■. .\- ,- We occupied the vLllages of Aisy, Jouy, and Laffaux, and Held closely in contact with the enemy; '" y ' ' . •_ Fort Conde has-fallen into our hands. - . r In the region of. Hautebise, after a lively combat, we captured a point of support north/wartis, taking 500 prisoners and capturing two 4in guns< West of Bermericourt, we made considerable progress. _'_•; In the. region of the massif of Moronvillerd we extended our positions northwards of Mont Haut, repulsing two German counter-attacks in this region and Mount Cotenilla. •■■■■: North-west of Aubefive, we brilliantly carried on a front of two kilometres a system of strongly organised trenches, repelling the enemy to the, southern outskirts of Vaudesinconrt. . ■■ LONDON; 21st April. Northwards of the Aisne the artillery is more active in.the regions of Nante\iil-la-Fosse and Hautebise, Yesterday we made prisoners of about ono hundred in this part of the front. . ■ : ■ Eastwards of Gramme and northwards ,of Reims, the night 'was marked by mutual violent artillery actions. . , . ■ ■: We progressed by grenade attacks, notably southwards of Juvincourt and eastwards' of Gourcy. Westwards of Maisons de Champagne we penetrated the German, lines, bringing back forty prisoners. ■■ • ■ . • , LONDON, 20th April. A French official report states : On the plateau of Veauclerc, and southeast of Coucy, we took.several trenches by the use of grenades. Eastward of Loivre our operations .have given xis some groUiid and 250 prisoners. _ In the Champagne/ during the night, there have been marked violent reactions by the enemy. There were three German' counter-attacks, preceded by bombardment, in the region of Mororlvillers. Our barrage and machine gun fire reduced the attempts to nought, and caused very heavy losses to the enemy. . , ■ . French official: North of the Oise we harassed the enemy, continued our progress towards the Chemift dcs Dames, arid occupied the village of Sancy. In the evening, after violent artillery preparation, the Germans in the region of Ailles and launched a great attack, which wds broken by our artillery and machine-gun fire, and completely Tepulsed. ' In the Champagne we carried seVeral .important support -posts in the massif of Moronvillers, notwithstanding bitter resistance by the enemy. Since 16th April we have captured between Soiseons and Auberive over 19,000 .prisoners and one hundred guns. ~ In the Argonne we penetrated the enemy's second trench, finding numerous bodies. (ATJSTBALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION AND BEtJTEB.) . LONDON, 22nd April. A French communique says: There is violent reciprocal. artillery fire, particularly south of Stj Quentin. ... . Between the Aisne and the Chemih dcs Dames we continued to progress on the plateau north of Sancy ' _ ■ We advanced in the region of Hautebise, out barrage shattering four enemy attempts to leave their trenches north of Bray-en-Laonnais. There is intermittent artillery 'firing betweeh Reims and the Champagne. 1 Altogether, 33,000 prisoners and 330 guns have been captured by the British and French.
