OPENING OF HARRIERS' SEASON
RUN AT'LYALL BAY.
The Wellington Harriers' season was opened at Lyall Bay on Saturday by Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., president of the Brooklyn Harriers, in the'absence of an official of tho Wellington Centre of the a.a.a:
After declaring the season open, Mr. Wright sent the pack away onder F. Harlen (captain Brooklyn Harriers), assisted by P Harvey (deputy-captain). The trail followed the sand for about half a mile, turned northward past the golf links, on to the tram line, and back to the bay, via the roads and paddocks—a distance of two miles. A run-in was held over the last 300 yards, and resulted in a win for C. A. Willis, with R. .Poutiwera second, and Hi Mio third. The harriers afterwards entertained : their friends at afternoon tea. Mrs. W. Cummins, wife of a vice-president of the Brooklyn Harriers, invested C. A. Willis with the club's blue ribbon, ho being first Brooklyn man homo in the run-in. Next Saturday tho Brooklyn Harriers will hold another run from Lyall Bay.
