PERJURY TRIALS AT HAMILTON
ADMISSIONS BY THE CROWN.

HAMILTON, 16th April.
The hearing of the chargo of perjury against Tioki Hapa and' Hakaipere in connection with the Rua, trial at.Auckland was continued in the Sunrema Court 'to-day, before Mr. Justice Hooking. Mr. Mays appeared for the Croivn, and Mr. Lundon for the prisoners. '; ; v During the examination of J. Cullen, ex-Commissioner of Police, witness said that-the story ■■put up by the natives about the first shot was a pure and deliberate concoction.
After some argujng on the question of admissions, it was'agreed that the following admission-by the. Crown be accepted : Tho Crown makes ho •' suggestion that either \ David Lundon, surveyor, or Carter, solicitor, Rotorua, arranged the story told by the defendant and other natives about the first shot, and no suggestion is made in this case that Mr. Lundon'eonstrueted the story.' ; - The case for the defence was opened this afternoon. .-■';:.■ ..„■ ...
