Private G. B. Dent, of the 24th Reinforcements, was presented with a wrietlot watch by his late workmates in the iron machinists' department of •■the Petono Railway workshops. Tha presentation was made, by Mr, P. G. Cairns. , '. Mr.-Samuel E. Thompson, a wellknown settler in the Dannevirke district, died in a private hospital in Wellington last week. Deceased was a half-brother to the late Lieut. Gray, killed, in action at Gallipali. '
