MEETING AT ELTHAM.

ELTHAM, 23vd February.

A bis; meeting of farmers was held at'the Town Hall to-day, when 500 persons were present. The meeting carried, tjhe: following resolution :— ' '•

"That this meeting is, of opinion that it is absolutely essential that the production of t,he Dpminion be mained at its maximum; that, while recognising that the winning of the war is cf paramount importance, the operation of the Military Service Act is-depleting the Dominion of so much skilled labour that it must shortly create a serious and dangerous 1 diminution in the products that are of the utmost importance to the Empire; that we urge :— "(1) Thati the Government at once take steps to -organise the necessary production to prevent grave' dislocation and loss of production; (2) that in view of the national importance of ing our primary industries the Government, should establish a board, comprising practical men, for directing and organising these industries."
