INTERRTOTED REPORT FROM POVERTY BAY DISTRICT.

According to a Press Association telegram from Kahukura, a township on tho Waiapu River, ninety-one .miles northeast of Gisbome, serious floods are being experienced in the Poverty Buy district. The message states :—"The Waiapu Jtiver has been twice in flood in eight days. It is rising again for the third time at the southern end. The big bridge has been swept away, and the centre span sunk. There has been considerable loss of stock. The Poroporo River is also flooded, and has isolated the Tikitiki township. Native ." At tliis stoge of the measure .communication onderl abruptly, and had not been restored up to the time of going to press. ;
