VICTORIAN STATE SHIPBUILDING.
Enquiries have been made through official sources as to tho possibility oE
having vessels of 8000 and 6000 tons constructed at the Victorian State shipbuilding yards. The Minister for Public Works (Mr. Aduinson) stated that the inability to secure the necessary material precluded tho possibility of entering into
a. couLruct for the construction, of the vessels at present, but^when the business manager to too yards was appointed he would bo directed to approach tho Imperial Government with tho Agenfc-Gen-eral (Sir Peter M'Bride), and ask for sufficient .material'to build at .least one of ■the vessels.
