"SWAT THAT FLY!"
A WARNING TO HOUSEHOLDERS.
In pureuance of its policy to take all possible steps in tho direction of exterminating the fly pest-, the City Council's health inspectors have been kept busy of late.-' In the summer time especially tho fly is a. recognised menace to the health of the community, ■ and those residents who allow their properties to become breeding grounds now make themselves liable to penalties under a comparatively recent bylaw brought into being by the council.
This morning, in the Magistrate's Court, a. warning was issued to residents of Wellington who are either not aware of the bylaiv or. careless' of their reenonsibilities. The following were charged with allowing fly larvae to accumulate on their premises:—Duffy, Boniface, and Munro (dairymen), Arthur Chinnock, Ho Kee, Frederick Kemp, and George Smith.
Mr. J. O'Shea (City Solicitor) stated that these were the first cases of their kind brought under the new bylaw, which was intended to provide against the fly nuisance in Wellington.
Tho Magistrate (Mr. L. G. Roid, S.M.) eaid that the cases wero no doubt brought as o. warning. Each defendant was ordered to pay 7s costs.
