VICTORIA COLLEGE

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

The Victoria College Council met last j evening, when the following were ; present: Mr. Clement Watson (chairman), tho Hon. A. T. jUaginnity, the Rev. W. A. Evans, Professors Brown and Garrow, and Messrs. W. S. La Trobe, T. R. Fleming,. W. H. Morton, and R. J. M'Callum, M.P. Certain correspondence from tho secretary of State at Home in reference to scientific and industrial research was referred, to the Professorial Board for a report. Similar action was taken ' regarding a letter from the Consul-General of the Netherlands at Melbourne, who suggested that the teaching o£ the Dutch language should be introduced in view of ■ the possibilities of trade with the Dutch Indies after the war. Accounts amounting to £1061 19s 4d were passed for payment.
