One of the most f striking features of business activity in Masterton is the remarkable development and improvement which have recently taken place in the conduct and equipment of the various marble bars. The Cosy Lounge, for instance, ■. opened in conjunction with the theatre of that name, under the proprietorship of Mr. E. Reeves, is acknowledged as fine an establishment of the kind as can be found in the Dominion. Entrance can be gained direct from Queen-street or from the dress circle of the theatA. Tho, visitor, on. entering the Cosy, cannot fail to be agreeably surprised at the elegance and extreme good taste of the lounge bar. It is .one of the largest, in the. district, and its artistically decorated walls and ceilings, its wealth of electric lights, its prettily arranged tables' glittering with glass and silverware, and its admirable system of ventilation are worthy of the _highest eulogy. Equally so is the Empire Marblo Bar, conducted by the same proprietor in a-nothcr part of Queen-street. The Empiro Bar and Lounge is furnished with every comfort and convenience, and is a popular rendezvous for townspeople and visitors.
