MESSRS. WATSON AND CO.

Grocery, Crockery, and Provision Mer=

chants, Masterton

There are certain departments of business activity' in Masterton in which one'! or two firms have, notwithstanding the keenest competition, achieved results so noteworthy that, they, stand out very pro- I minently among', their contemporaries, I and the firm whose name forms the title of this article can truthfully claim to be one of them. Messrs. Watson and Co. have been • established in business in the. j towiv for seven' years, and during'that | brief „pe"riod-have built up an amazingly large trade. The firm really own three; •^distinct businesses in the town. "First of all there are the grocery stores, next Empire Hotel;. then on the other side 'of Queen-street "there' is the' crockery department; and last, although by no! means least, the drapery establishment, i Very extensive premises, are being erected near Daniell's for Messrs. Watson and Co., and in a very short period it is intended to combine the grocery, provision, and crockery departments all under one roof. The drapery business will be continued where it is at present located. The new structure will be beautifully fitted, .up,, and'will therefore enable the firm ample room to cope with the fast deyelppmenfc of their trade. Goods are .delivered to the .remotest part' of the town, and clients can always rely on the quality when purchasing at Watson's. The resources of the firm enable them to command always the best markets, and, purchasing as they do in such large quantities, they are in a position to offer exceptional advantages to their customers, which fact has no doubt added considerably to* the enhancement of their great volume of trade. In closing this review -we would add that the mercantile status of the concern is of a very high character; and the importance it bears local trading circles renders this notice absolutely ' essential to the compjeteness of our review.
