R. G. TOWNSEND.

Saddle and Harness Maker, Masterton

Ever sinco the year 1880 the name Towrisend has been associated with the saddlery and harnessware trade of Masterton, and notwithstanding the inroads the motor has made on labour formerly performed by the horse, there is still room for the up-to-date saddler's shop in a district where agriculture and stockraising is an essential feature, and Mr. R. G. Townsend's establishment on Queen-street is the centre for all requirements in the matter of harness, saddles, leggings, bags, whips, horse covers, and, indeed, all Icatherware required by horse or man. As indicated above, it is 37 years ago since this business was first established, and it has been continued on the same spot since. Mr. Townsend, senr., who now lives in Wellington, commenced the business in partnership. with a Mr. Couper. Subsequently Mr. Conpor retired, and the present owner joined his father, and a few years ago took it over on his own/ account. The shop contains a really firstclass stock of goods, marked at prices as low, if not lower, than, in many larger centres, and a competent'staff of, workmen is employed to carry out all, necessary repairs. Mr. R. G. Townsend, the proprietor, was born in Masterton, and is justly credited with being a thoroughly reliable tradesman.
