HOT WEATHER AND PORK
PRICES,
The New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tivo Distributing Company reports to-day that potatoes are coming in freely and excellent prices have been realised for special Hutt lines. Others are realising fair prices, Wheat is- firm, and a fair amount of business is being done. There lias been a. considerable quantity of maizo offering and price has declined. 1 Fair business is being done m oats, .recent prices being maintained. . . Pollard and bran show, no change. There is-a fair demand for dressed pork, 'but owing to the very hot weather prices are slightly lower. Eggs are scarce and higher in price. Pollard' is in good demand, realising fair prices. ,
•'Many of the consignments of green, peas arriving are of inferior quality, and are hard to quit, but good lines meet excellent demand. Choice cauliflower are in short supply, and satisfactory prices are ruling.- French beans are offering freely at fair rates and consequently cabbages are easier in price. Good lettuce meets, keen competition. Turnips, parsnips, and carrots'are selling well at satisfactory prices;, Spring onions and celery are selling freely. Swedes are slow.
Stone fruit continues to arrive in large consignments, and there is good demand for all varieties; peaches, apricots, and greengages are mostly enquired for, and satisfactory ..prices ■ are being' realised. Nelson, tomatoes are arriving in lai-ge quantities and the prices are lower. Local dessert and cooking apples are now coming in and meeWready sale at good, prices.
