NATIONAL RESERVE
BROOKLYN UNIT.
Members of the Brooklyn unit of the National Reserve assembled at the State School grounds last evening, but the weather being too stormy for outdoor work, an adjournment was made indoors. Following up the combined parade of last week of the other Wellington units, and to assist those members who were absent on that occasion, the commanding officer, Lieut. W. A. Ramsay, by means of diagrams on the blackboard, gave an instructive and interesting half hour on "company formations," etc., which was much appreciated. As these combined parades will probably be held every month, this class of instruction will be useful to members generally. Attendance at the rifle range is good. A return match, Brooklyn unit v. Valuation Department, is fixed for this evening. ■ The following team will meet at the Brooklyn range to fire off : Brooklyn—Abbott, Alabaster, Aulin, Ciitrk, Monkhouse, Richardson, Turner, Waters, Webb, and Worsfold; reserves, Chandler, Hunt, and J. Allan. The Osmond Challenge Shield, won by the Brooklyn unit at the recent competition, and presented last week, is now- on view in the window of Mr. A. Turner, tobacconist, Brooklyn.
