ALL RESISTANCE OVERCOME
(Received September 27, 8.16 a.m.) ""■ . LONDON, 26th September. Sir Douglas Haig reports : We have entered Combles, overcoming all resistance. The High Commissioner.reports :— LONDON, 26th September, 2.55 p.m. The British official report says -. Combles was entered, overcoming the enemy's resistance. The enemy's losses were severe. Yesterday's captures amounted to 1500 prisoners, and much war material. More prisoners are arriving. A strong redoubt between Lesboeufs and Gueudecourt has been captured, and the Garrison mado prisoners. RA..COURT TAKE.. BY THE FRENCH. (Australian-New Zealand Cable Association.) PARIS, 26th, September. A French official communique states : In a violent battle on tbe IA-anco-British float, the French extended their lines north-eastward of Combles and captured Rancourt, taking .00 unwounded prisoners. FREGICOURT VILLAGE TAKEN DURING THE NIGHT. The High Commissioner reports :— * LONDON, 26th September, 3.30 p.m. The French official report says : We reached the borders of Fregicourt, i_king the village during the night. We penetrated the Combles cemetery, reaching the borders of the village. One detachment established itself in the south-west trench, and made prisoners ot* a German company Tho German counter-attacks on our new trenches between Bethune road and the Somme were- repulsed. We'took 800 prisoners.
