CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED CONDITIONS
A considerable amount of ram has fallen during the past twenty-four hours in the Northern and East Coast districts of the North Island, while fair to cloudy conditions have prevailed elsewhere. The barometer has fallen further everywhere, and moderate to strong easterly winds have predominated. A moderate . gale was reported last night off East Cape, and a warning signal for an easterly gale is also exhibited at the same place to-day.
The Government Meteorologist reports that seas are likely to be rough on the East Coast north of Kaikoura, and the winds will probably be variable for a little while, easterlies prevailing in the North and south-easterlies in most parts of the South Island. Cloudy, unsettled, misty weather, with rain, may be expected, especially in the North, and similar conditions are not , unlikely to spread further south.
