A SHAKESPEAREAN SEASON.
Lovers of the legitimate drama will be glad to know that they will shortly have an opportunity of renewing acquaintance with Shakespeare's plays, the Allan Wilkie Tercentenary Company being announced to open in the Grand Opera House on Saturday night next. The company has been appearing at Auckland with much success. On the opening night and on the following Monday and Tuesday "Hamlet" will be presented, with Mr. Allan Wilkie in the leading role, and Miss Frediswyde Hunter-WatU as Ophelia. On the Wednesday " The Merchant of Venice" will be staged, and other productions will.be "Twelfth Night," "Romeo and Juliet," "As You Like It," and "Othello." The plays are said to be lavishly staged and. mounted, and the costumes to be historically correct. The box plans will be opened at the Bristol on Thursday next. Popular prices will be charged, with reduced rates for season tickets, and special concessions will be made to cplleges and schools.
