GAINS OF GROUND REPORTED.
ROME, 30th August. An Italian official- communique states: We have gained . ground north-east \of Cauriol,. and-stormed strong trenches oh the north-western slopes of Punta del Forame, in the Felizon Valley. (Received September 1, 11.40 a.m.) |^ " ; ' LONDON, 31st August. The Italian communique states: We repulsed attacks on the Upper Posina and Astico Valleys. The enemy intensely bombarded our new positions at Gauriol. The enemy is trying to consolidate in the Gorizia aud Carso areas.
