ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS
" Carriage of Goods " was the title of an instructive lecture delivered at the meeting of the Wellington Account-ant Students' Society la6t evening by Mr, W. L. Ward, M.A., LL.B. A clear de : ftnition was given by the lecturer of a common carrier, while he outlined the. duties and liabilities attaching to such a person at common law, quoting leading cases bearing upon the legal aspect of the subject. He then dealt with the statutory obligations of common carriers, quoting provisions from the various Acts passed by the English and New Zealand Parliaments dealing with, carriage 'of goods. In conclusion Mr. Ward touched upon " Bills of Lading" and the effect of the various clauses printed thereon. After answering sev- ■ era.l questions, the lecturer was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks.
