An old-age pensioner named John Suffieid, 75 years of age, while crossing the railway line near the station at 8.30 this morning, was struck by a shunting engine and killed instantly. He was very deaf, and apparently did not hear the'engine coming. CHRISTOHURCH. This Day. W.
