RETAKING THE TRENCHES NEAR POZIERES.
The High Commissioner reports : — LONDON, 15th August, 3.55 p.m. Sir Douglas Haig reports: As a result of local fighting north-west of Pozieres during the last two days we retook nearly the whole of the remainder of trenches which the enemy gained on Sunday.
During the night, we also forced an entry into enemy tranches at Mouquet Farm, bringing back eleven prisoners. Small enemy attempts to raid trenches on bur right were repulsed with loss.
