EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL

At the ' last meeting of the Eastbourna Borough Council, which was attended ■ by, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Kelly) and Councillors Pilcher, Foiey, Russell, Preston, Morris, Levi, and Macpherson, the question of. Allen-street, regarding which there has been a good deal of discussion and correspondence, again came up for consideration. An offer by the Walls Trustees of £100 in consideration of the council taking over and forming Allen-street was considered. The Works Committee -reported that it had gone fully into the matter, and considered the sum offered inadequate;to form the street. Ii was finally decided, not ia accept the offer,, but fo ask* the owners of the land in question to form .the road according to ft modified specification. It ■was decided to adopt, the Works Committee's recommendation to plant the eastern side of tho "Recreation Ground with a double row of shelter trees., Also to erect a scrub fence,to protect, the trees from the .prevailing winds. , v
