At the meeting in Te Aro School, Willis-street, Mr. H. A. M'Kenzie, chairman of the local,-£chool committee, presiding, the following. motion was passed :—" That this meeting is of the opinion that the time has arrived when compulsory service should be inaugurated." About 20 people were present.
