RUSSIAN SUCCESS EAST OF THE TOWN

PETROGRAD,- 17th April. A Eussian communique sa-ys : After desperate fighting in the coastal region of Caucasia, we drove the Turks, who were supported by artillery, from a strongly organised position of great natural strength on the left bank of the Karadere, sixteen miles east of Trebizond. We are energetically pursuing the enemy. We repulsed with great loss repeated enemy attacks in the direction of Baiburt.
