BROOKLYN
Mr. D. R. Kenned}-, chairman of the retiring committee, presided at Brooklyn. The meeting was well attended The chairman reported that the finances were in a very satisfactory state. Referring to the question of additional playground, he expressed regret that the committee had not yet been able to carry out a scheme which would have met" with general approval. It was hoped, however, to bring about an improvement ere long. On behalf of the committee ho thanked the board, especially the Chairman (Hon. J. G. W. Aitkcn) and the secretary (Mr. G. -L. Stewart) for the kindly consideration given lo the committee's various requests. He also acknowledged the assistance given by the head master (Mr. J. B. Hopkirk) and the _ school staff. The annual report, a precis of which has already appeared in The Post, was adopted, as was also the balance-sheet, which showed a credit of £60 18s sd. A letter from the secretary of the Educational Institute on the subject of continuation classes was referred to the new committee. Mr. .J. B. Hopkirk, head master was congratulated on an able and comprehensive review of the past year's school work. The election of a new committee, in connection with which Messrs. G. Frost and J. Rose acted as scrutineers, resulted in the return of the following:—Messrs. E. B. Hill, 44 votes; G. N. Evans, 40; D. R. Kennedy. 40; N. R. M'lsaac, 39; W. G. Coventry. 38; E. R, Mara, 35; T. M'Dowell, 33; A. J. White, 30; A. Burgess, 24. At a meeting of the new committee, Mr. TJ. R. Kennedy was elected chairman and Mr. A. J. Whitb secretary.
