Shore) • ... 0 Adjutant was shut out at the start, but the others moved off on fairly even terms. Taringamutu led past the stand, followed by Rewi Poto, First Glance, and Tangihou, with Adjutant and Sir Knox last. Taringamutu still led at the mile post, her closest attendants being Square Deal, Rewi Poto, Sir Solo, Tangihou, First Glance, and Snub. In the back stretch Snub and First Glance moved up to the leaders, but Snub soon dropped back. At the half-mile post Taringamutu was leading Square Deal, First Glance, Welcome Nugget, Balboa, and Tangihou, with Adjutant and Sir Knox at the rear of the field. Taringamutu was first round' the home bend, followed by First Glance, Balboa, and Square Deal. A furlong from home First Glance took charge, while Bee was coming . fast on ,the outside. The latter finished with a great rush, and won by half a length from First Glance, who was a length in front of Balboa. Taringamutu was fourth, and Welcome Nugget fifth. The last to finish were Sir Knox and Adjutant. Time, 2min 31 3-ssec. RUAPEHU HANDICAP, of 200 soys; second horse to receive 40 soys, and the third horse 20 soys from the stake. Sweet Corn led a bunched field on to the course proper. At the distance Tete-a-Tete and Chakwana were fighting it out, but Panmure finished with a greatburst of speed on the outside, and won by a neck. Half a length separated second and third. Fihdhorn and Tirana were next to finish. Time, lmin 12 2-5 sec.
