INDISSOLUBLE TIES

BETWEEN FRANCE AND

ENGLAND

KING GEORGE'S MESSAGE TO M.

POINCARE

LONDON", 31st December.

The King sent the following message to M. Poincare, President of, France: —

"At,tho commencement of the New Year I desire to convey my warmest wishes for your welfare, and to express my earnest hope that you ' will enjoy health and strength necessary to enable you to fulfil your exalted duties. That our two countries have united in common with our Allies in the prosecution of a great cause is a source of unfailing satisfaction to me. The two peoples are bound by ties which the heroism and sacrifices' of their gallant soldiers and sailors have rendered indissoluble; I beg you to accept, on behalf of myself and the Empire, the most col-dial greetings^ the great-nation over which you preside, arid the expression of deep admiration for the splendid qualities of land and sea forces of France, which in this war have been of such inestimable value, and offer a sure guarantee of ulti. mate victory."
