TEN THOUSAND A YEAR GIVEN UP. (Received December 17, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 16th December. The suggestion of the Attorney-Gen-eral (Sir F. E. Smith) and the English Law Officers that their emoluments should be reduced during the period of the war by £10,000 a year is now in operation. [Whitaker's Almanack gives the salaries of the officers of the Law Officers' Department as follows :—Attorney-Gen-eral (with fees), £7000; Solicitor-Gen-eral (with fees), £6000; chief permanent clerk, £500; second permanent clerk, £250. to £300.]
