ALLEGED INFANTICIDE
ARREST AT HORNBY. (BT TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Mrs. Mary Ann Reed, thirty years of age, was arrested on warrant on a charge of murdering her twine by strangling them at Hornby on Saturday last. It is stated that Mrs. Reed, while separated from her husband, gave birth to twins, and soon after told her parents where they were. The parents found the bodies of the twins, strangled by linen bands, under a goree hedge. A doctor's evidence showed that the children had breathed. An inquest is proceeding.
In addition to the Natives' Association Band (formerly the Garrison Band, of which deceased had been a member) members of the Tramways and sth (Wellington) Regiment Band attended the funeral of the late Mr. J. A. Donaldson or. Saturday. The three bands combined and played " The Garland of Flowers " and "The Dead March" en route to the Karori Cemetery. DrunvMajor A.
