TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL The Legislative Council resumed at 2.30 p.m. to-day The Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, the Prisoners' Detention Bill, the Destitute Persons Amendment Bill, the Footwear Regulation Amendment Bill, the Miners' Phthisis Bill, the Mining Amendment Bill, and the Coal Mines Amendment Bill, were received from the House of Representatives, and read a first time. Certain amendments by His Excellency the Governor to the Marriage Amendment Bill and Expeditionary Forces Bill were agreed to. ' The Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, which makes it an offence to send butter with over 16 per cent, of moisture to grading stores for export, was read a second time. (Proceeding.) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES The House of Representatives resumed at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. C. H. Poole asked the Minister for Defence if he knew whether a typewritten notice signed by the captain had been posted on the Tahiti asking the crew to be prepared to leave the vessel at twenty-four hours' notice, and if so had this anything to do with the decision to leave the ship when their articles had expired? •• The Minister replied that he had no knowledge of any such notice. The Public Works Statement was introduced, and the debate was fixed for 7.30 to-night. < i (Proceeding.)
