ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS
At a meeting of the Wellington Accountant Students' Society last night, Mr. E. W. Hunt, F.1.A.V., who presided, welcomed councillors of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and particularly two ex-presidents, Messrs. James Brown (Dunedin) and Peter Barr (Dunedin). Regret was expressed at the 'absence of the newly-elected president, Mr. J. S. Barton, and Mr. H. C. Tewsley, vice-president. The chairman announced ' that the trophy of £3 3s, together with a permanent shield to carry the names of winners, would be donated by him to the society. Mr. E. J. Cumming, F.1.A.N.Z., will give a lecture in October on the subject "Income' Tax.'*. A motion was passed during the evening congratulating one of the vice-presidents, Mr. John S. Barton, on his election as president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and at the same • time pleasure was expressed at the election of Mr. Tewsley to the position of vice-presi-dent of the same body. A public speak- 1 ing competition wa3 held during the' evening.
