LODGE MEETINGS
On the occasion of its first anniversary, the members of Victoria (Rebekah) Lodge, No. 2, 1.0.0. F., entertained the members of Brooklyn, Zealandia, and Southern Cross Lodges, 1.0.0. F., and friends. A feature of the evening's programme was the "cutting of the birthday cake" by P.N.G. Sister Platts-Mills, who presented the first piece cut to P.G.M. Bro. Valentine for the members of the Grand Lodge. The programme, which consisted of the following items, was very much enjoyed : Overtures, Miss Coad and Miss Johnson ; songs, Sister Atkinson and Misses Currey and HallKenney ; duets (vocal), Misses Betty and Chappell j mandolm ' and banjo, Sisters j Bennett and Woodnutt ; quartette | ('cello, violin, flute, piano), Misses Turner (2) and Cooney (2); recitations, Sister Soan_ and Miss G. Reyling ; Scottish dance, littlo Misses Campbell ; electric club-swinging, Miss Reta Crane. A "menu competition" was won by Miss Richardson and Mr. Hubbard. The evening's entertainment was arranged by Sisters Pullum, I. Overend, A. Bodley, N.G., and D. G. Duff. Court Sir William Jervoii', A.0.F., held its half-yearly meeting in St. Thomas's School, ,Newtown, C.R. Bro. A. Taylor presiding. The election of officers resulted :— C.R., 1 Bro. G. Carr; S.C.R., Bro. E. Anset; treasurer, Bro. S. Hoy; secretary, Bro. T. F, Coe ; S.W., Bro. C. Morrisson; J.W., Bro. A. Blatcher; 5.8., Bro. Gosse; J. 8., Bro. A. Jackson ; M.S., Bro. Ilall. Dr. M'Evedy was elected a Court doctor A Roll of Honour of members gone to the war was httng in the room, and a vote of thanks was passed to Bros. G. Carr, A. Blatchcr, and M. H. Co* for presenting and doing the writing on the board. The nominations for district officers a.ro : District Secretary, Bro. R. Dickson; D. T. Bro. H. Shapcott: D.J.8., P.C.R. Bro. J. Mills. The other district officers were each advanced a step. Bro. Price, A.D., presided at the usual meeting ot Poneke Lodge, U.A.0.D., Potonc. Throo brothers were declared on th« sick fund. P.D.P. Bro. Gough was installed as D.P. by P.D.P. Bro. J Whist. Visitors attended from the Star of New Zealand Lodge.
