KIDMAN PLEADS GUDLTY. SYDNEY, 24th June. Kidman was fined £200 on each, of two indictments for forging and uttering a tender in the name of 0. Brown, and •forging a tender in the name of A. James meat for the Commonwealth Forces. * He pleaded guilty. ;", The Chief Justice, in passing sentence, 'feaid that the case was the first under "the new law, and he accepted Kidman's "statement that he did not think he was !. 'doing any harm, though he was sorry ;that such an impression should prevail • in the mind of Kidman or anyone else. X So faT as the evidence showed, Kidman's ; action did no mischief to the Common- - 'wealth. Under the circumstances, he ; '.would deal with the case rather as an ""attempt to get an unfair advantage of -■tho Commonwealth than as a serious act.
