An oflicer who was wounded at Neuville states that, while acts of extraordinary courage are frequent among the Germans, their military value has been lowered by the large admixture of bourgeois, Socialists, and intellectuals, who liave been trained since th© war' began. • He himself Baw , 200 Germans fly before 25 French who oame up to the rescue of five comrades. He explains that 900 of the 161 st Prussian Infantry, absolutely fresh troops, who motored from Lille, surrendered the evening they arrived in the trenches.
