NEW TOWN CLERK OF EASTBOURNE

Mr. J. S. Day, at present holding a responsible position on tho staff of Andereons', Ltd., Christchurch, has been ap> pointed Town Clerk of Eastbourne and officer in charge of the borough's ferry service. There were 42 applicants from all parts of the Dominion. Air. Day was until two years ago in the service of Messre. E. W. Mills and Co., Wellington. He was also at one time on the Manawatu Railway Company's Btaff, after, which ho entered the Wellington branch of Messrs. A. and T. Burt. Mr. J. D. Avery, who resigned from the position of Town Clork, will continue to carry out some of the duties of tho office until Mr; Day is installed.
