CITY ESTIMATES
EXPENDITURE SUMMARY. Estimates for the year 1915-16 were adopted by the City Council last night. Details of rating "proposals have already been published. Following are summaries of estimated general expenditure analysed as to the different works, and also as to districts : — Works : Repairs to macadamised streets, £16,398 ; new formation and general improvements, £1934 ; tar macadam, £9729 ; concrete walls, £280 ; concrete flagging, £950 ; concrete kerb and channel, £3400 ; concrete channels, £1141; asphalte footpaths, £2615; fencing, £297 ; gravelling footpaths, £260; name plates, £100; tan-ing and sanding, £2000 ; stormwater drainage, £2980 ; private streets made public under 1909 Act, £1950 ; incidental works throughout city, £1500; total, £45,524. District Allocation : City district, £25,100; Island Bay district, £3452; Kelburn district, £3367 ; Kilbirnie district, £4003; Northland district, £1715 ; Ohiro district, £3552 ; Rosenealh district, £1510 : Wadestown district, £1325 ; incidental throughout city, £1500; total, £45,524.
The following progress report has been issued by the manager of the Waihi Company :— "No. 11 level: Edward lode intersected at 119 ft in crosscut, due west from south section of Empire lodej next 12ft across lode, worth L.§ 2» 3d ncr ton."
