ENTERPRISING BURGLARS

(BY THJGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) , HASTINGS, This Day. In the early hours this morning, enterprising bujlars set to work with crowbars on the brick strong-room of the Hawkes Bay Fruit Cool Storage Stores, and bored an 18-inch square hole through the brickwork. Another of the gang, evidently while his mates were thus occupied, endeavoured to force the iron door of the strong-room, and was successful. About 6 o'clock a charwoman appeared, and the thieves decamped. Nothing was taken from the safe, but tho office was ransacked. The charwoman saw a partially-dressed man with his clothes over his arm making good his escape.

A reminder is given that entries for the Hawkce Bay Kennel Club's annual show close with the secretary at Napier on Monday. Entry forms can be obtained from Meears. Clifford and Sons, £Ullcxs*_l3£L Unoer. JCuh&'StzeaL
