WOMAN MOTOR-VAN DRIVER.
Mias "Virtue, of London, described in English papers ac the first woman professional motor-d.river, has made her appearance in Leeds, having been engaged to drive a motor delivery van for a firm of grocers in th© city. She takes the place of a man who has joined the Army. The firm declined to appoint any other man in his stead who was eligible for military service. Miss Virtue, who presented herself as a candidate, pleading that ahe wa» anxious to liberate a. man for the war, has declared herself well pleased with the work, and says that after her farming experiences in Canada & chauffeur's job is simple. The firm is delighted with the success of the experiment. The manager states that there is far leas time wasted on erra-nds. Miss Virtue is a thoroughly practical chauffeur, capable of doing her own repairs.
