GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS

SUPPLIES OF MOUTH ORGANS. The Minister for Defence has received notification from tho High Commissioner (tho Hon. T Mackenzie) of certain gifts for tho British troops at the front. Mr. Mackenzie states that the chairman of the Bristol Piano Company, Dunedin, had desired to present to the British Expeditionary Forces mouth organs, which, it was understood, were greatly in demand. He -had been advised by tho War Office that the London agents of tho firm had deposited 40 dozen mouth organs with the proper authorities, and that the War Office would have them distributed. Tho High Commissioner stated that he h*d also dealt with the offer of the Now Zealand War Contingents' Association's desire to forward "warm clothing for the New Zealanders in Egypt and Turkey. Twenty-two cases were at Cardiff ready to bo shipped away when wanted. The articles comprise mufflers, body belts, cuffs, socks, balaclavas, etc.
