A slight shower or two fell in Wellington last night, but tho morning broke fine and oloar, and later in tho day the sun. shone from an almost cloudless sky. Elsewhere, it is reported that, under the influence of a westerly low pressure, the weather ha* been unsettled, particularly in and southward of Cook Strait, where rain has been fairly general. Snow has been reported on some of tho higher levels in the South Island, and eoldor weather orevails in many parts of Wostland along the coast. The indications are for squally and unsettlod weather, with heavy showers gonerally, and snow on the higher levels. Westerly winds, strong to gale, are likely id prevail, changing to southerly shortly > with eoldor weathor following.
