ORDERS DISOBEYED

LIEUTENANT REDUCED AND DISMISSED. MELBOURNE, 26th May. The Federal Executive has considered the case of 2nd Lieut. George William Moore, recently tried by court-martial. Ho was charged on two counts with disobeying his superior officer's orders. Moore was appointed postmaster at Rabaul, and Col.- Holmes (the officer commanding at Rabaul) ordered that no person should be allowed to purchase over ten shillings' worth of each denomination of surcharged German New Guinea stamps, which ha<l become of high philatelic value. Moore was found guilty on the second count only. The executive has appiov<ed the sentence of the court reducing Moore to the ranks, and also his dismissal from the Defence Forces.
