' Mr. George Flux, parishioners' churchwarden, in presenting the annual report and balance-Sheet, remarked that the statement 'of finances ■ showed a " satisfactory state of affairs, largely as a I result of the work of the Ladies Guild, ! which contributed in all about £67 10s as the result of sales of work. General offertories were well up to the average! Special offertories for the year and offerj tories for missions were in excess of tho previous year. In addition a sum of £20 16s 4d had been subscribed for the Belgian Relief Fund. The financial year ended with a credit balance of £8 2s lid. Mr. Christie, in proposing the adoption of the report, commented on the valuable assistance rendered by the ladies, who still had no vote in parochial matters. Reference was made to the regret of parishioners at the departure of the Rev. J. G. Castle to Island Bay, and satisfaction was expressed at the appointment of the Rev. J. Robinson to take his place. Tho meeting also expressed its regret at the early departure of the Rev. H. G. Blackburne and Mrs. Blackburne to take up work in All Saints' parish, Pahnerston North, and they were congratulated on the call. The Rev. Mr. Blackburne, in replying, bespoke a warm welcome for the Rev. J. H. Sykes, who was soon to take charge of Kilbirnie parish, and expressed his own personal regret at leaving the work in Kilbirnie district after five years and a-half. He thsaked parishioners for their loyal support", and mentioned that during his connection with the district the population had increased about two' fold, and the number of parishioners and communicants had more than doubled. A vote of thanks was passed to the churchwardens, vestry, Ladies' Guild, lay readers, choir, Stmday school teachers, lady collectors, and all Church workers. Good wishes were conveyed from the meeting to the boys" at the front, especially to the large number connected ' with the 'Church in the Kil* birnie district. Attention was drawn to the fact that during the year a central committee of eight had been formed, comprising two representatives t fVom Kilbirnie, Miramar, Worser Bay, and Maranui, to deal with financial and other matters common to the whole district.'
