TWO BODIES FOUND IN THE HARBOUR
ONE STILL UNIDENTIFIED. Two bodies were found in tho harbour on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. At about 6 p.m. on Thursday two men, named A. J. H. Croucber and Howard Taylor, saw the body of a woman floating in the water near the Tavanakistreet Wharf, and notified the police. Constables M'Kolvey and Hall had some difficulty in recovering the corpse, which had drifted over towards the old dock site. Ultimately, aa the result of the assistance of a sailor, the body was secured and pulled ashore. The remains had evidently been in the water for several hours. The body was taken to the morgue, and was subsequently identified by John Bailey, tolls clerk, as that of his wife Winifred. The second body was found by Constable Thompson, off the Ferry Wharf, at about 6 o'clock last evening, and was at once recovered. The body, which was that of a middle-aged man of the labouring class, was dressed in a khaki-colour-ed coat, dungaree trousers, and tan workman's boots.
