AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING RECORD ATTENDANCE. (8T TELEGRAPH— PRFSS ASSOCIATION) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Summer Meeting commenced to-day in beautiful weather. There is a record attendance. The track is in fast order. Results: — Shortland Plate, of 300 soys; one mile.— Bedford, 7.7, 1; Austin, 8.2, 2; Snapdragon, 7.2, 3. Scratched — Plenipotent and Gazette. Manukau and Self made the running along the back, just in front of Soultaae, Bedford, and Snapdragon. Crossing the top Self and Manukau were still the leaders, and turned into the straight just in front of Bedford, Soultane, and Snapdragon. At the distance Bedford shot to the front, and, stalling off challenges by Austin and Snapdragon, won by half a length, a length and a-hal£ separating second and third. Time, lmin 40 4-ssec. Great Northern Foal Stakes, of 1000 soys ; six furlongs. Desert Gold, 8.5 1 Sutala, 8,7 ' 2 Wishful, 8.10 3 Scratched : Battle Eve and Marco Bello. Sweet Com and Wishful made the early running, just clear of Housewife. Turning for home, Desert Gold was on terms with the leaders. A great finish resulted in Mr. Ldwry's filly getting the verdict by a neck. Twothirds of a length separated the second and third. Time, lmin 15 4-ssec.
