MAGISTRATES COURT
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper. 8.M., presided at to-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Margaret M'Hugh, Mary Brown, and Margaret Lauren&on were all convicted of importuning in a public street. The' two first-mentioned were sent to gaol for one month, and a sentence of four* teen d»ays in gaol was imposed upon. Laurenson. Two first-offgnding inebriates had their bail of 10s estreated, and another was convicted and discharged. Peter Butler, who appeared to be suffering from the effects of drink, was charged with being a> rogue and A vagabond in that he was found by night sleeping in a truck at the Lambton railway yards. He was convicted and Bent to gaol for one month. A bad start has been made by Michael M'Pherson, who arrived in New Zea* land as a stowaway from America a little time back. He admitted using obscene language and was fined £3, in default one month's imprisonment. jH
