For some time Mr. A. H. Hindmargh could not speak; he was cheered ed loudly. "My first words," he said, "must be thanks to my committee, whiett, worked so loyally to pat me in. The only thing is that I hope I deserve it. t want to thank you all on behalf of th« Labour Party. Had it not been for tha Labour Party I would hot be here to. night. The Labour Party put me her© and the Labour Party, therefore., I thank.*' Mr. Hindmarsh mentioned ths success of Mr. M'Laren and Mr. Fletcher. "If ever a politician deserved to bfe turned down it was Mr Fisher for reading a private letter last night in the town Hall. The man who will do that is not fit for public life. I am proud that Wellington has turned him down. It is the most satisfactory thing about the elections so far."
