SOBNE OF A STIRRING ASSAULT. LONDON, 7th December. Four hundred French volunteers, in* eluding a hundred Zouaves, made » night attack on a ferryman's house at Poesele, which commanded an im* portant bridge over the Yser Canal, and which had been turned into a miniature fort. Th 6 French crossed the bridge under a hail of fire from machine guns, and drove the Germans from the outer walls. After a ferocious fight with bayonets and knives, the French then dashed in through the' doors, with axes in hand. Hand-to-hand fighting ensued on each floor. The Germans were driven into the loft, where they Burrendered. Nope were wounded. • - ,
