RED FEDS. AND WELLINGTON NORTH

to THB BMtOR Sir,~-In jvistice to this United Federa tion of Labour, t ask you to insert the following matter in relation to certain charges contained in the published m port of the meeting of the executive council of the Liberal League. <1) It is stated that Mr H. Holland is the "Rod Federation's representative." (2) That an attempt was made by the United Federation of Labour to "break up Mr. Tumbull's meeting in Sydney* street." In reply to No. 1, 1 wish to Btate definitely that the United Federation of Labour has had absolutely nothing at all to do or say with regard to Mr. Hoi. land's candidafcui'o for Wellington North In reply to No 2, I give this charge an absolute denial, too As a matter of fact the probability is tha£ T was th» only member of the United Federation of Labour present at the meeting, in <l«6stion. ami although I may take pnd« in the suggestion that I endeavoured to break up the meeting, swell was not the case, as I shall call Mr TurnbuU to witness if necessary, as owing to the ball being • crowded I sat about five yards from Mr. Turtibull on the stage, and was called upon by the chairman «t one stage to help him count the votes on the dif' ferent motions. In conclusion, 1 may point out that in the report of Mr. Turnbull's meeting, ap pearing in the Times of 24th Novem* lief, appears the following:— Questioner: Does the candidate think it fair when Liberal and Tory candidates meet with, opposition, to shelter themselves behind the cry that it came from the Red Feds? Mr. Tnrnbull: Well, X did not cay co, did t? The matter needs no further comment xvhen Mr. Turnbnll did not endorsa the charge made by his eupporter who moved the resolution of confidence in him. —l am, etc., J. READ, Secretary.
