From that date he will receive three months' holiday on full pay. and will finally retire from the Force in Feb» ruary next. Sergeant M'Grath. joined the Force in Wellington in 1876, and ha* been stationed at most of the principal town* in New Zealand When he received promotion to the tank ofVrceant the first station of which he was m charge was Patea, and that was about thirtyfive year* ago. The funeral of the late Mr H R. Clayton, of Chellaston, Lower Hutt, took place at Karori on Saturday afternoon Deceased joined the staff of the Post and Telegraph at the age of 14. and for the last 14 years was in the electrical department of New Zealand railways. He was a son of the late Mr Richard Clayton, sheep inspector, of OAtna.ru, and for many years station holder near Wakatipu. and a nephew of the late Henry Clayton, Colonial Architect for New Zealand. He leaves a widow, one son (Mr F A. Clayton, postmaster, Mnrchison), and one daughter (Mrs. G. N Piekett, Bank of New Zealand, Cromwell, Central Otago).
